Peter Ragusa, address unknown, was arrested at 8:10 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, by Bridgeport Police following the attack, said Scott Appleby, director of emergency management.
According to Appleby, police responded to assist medics with a "very intoxicated," person who had a thumb injury and was not coopering and screaming obscenities at ambulance personnel.
Once on the scene, police talked Ragusa into going with the medics to receive medical assistance with the injury, Appleby said.
Ragusa walked to the ambulance on his own, however, while AMR staff were securing him in the ambulance he became very aggressive and assaulted an AMR staff member, he added.
Police immediately detained Ragusa and assisted with the transport to the hospital.
Ragusa was charged with assault of public safety, disorderly conduct, and interfering with an officer.
